The guys over at Blog Action Day really deserves an applause. By now, over 12,000 blogs have participated in the event and that’s over 12 million readers in estimated audience!

In summary, Blog Action Day is about generating awareness on a particular subject though mass participation – this year poverty.
The idea: awareness through social media.
The weapon: blog posts.
The goal: fighting poverty through enlightment. Brilliant!

One of the chapters I’ve just finished describes a range of different internal employee codes and procedures that contains different meanings. I’m not sure what is true, if anything, and it would be great if anybody could elaborate on it with me. Nonetheless, it’s cool – and even more cool if it proves to be true!

Hotel

• Starts playing “Blue Danube Waltz” – evacuate the building

Hospital

• Paging “Nurse Flamingo” – fire in the building
• Paging “Dr. Blaze” – fire in the building
• Paging “Dr. Green” – a patient comitted suicide
• Paging “Dr. Blue” – a patient stopped breathing

Hard Rock Café

• “Elvis has left the building” – servers/waiters need to go to the kitchen to what dinner special has sold out

Broadway theater

• “Elvis has left the building“ - fire in the theater

Gorcery store

• Page “Mr. Cash” – call for an armed security guard
• Calling “Freight check to Woman’s Clothing” – somebody is shoplifting in that department
• Page “Sheila to the front” – somebody is shoplifting in the front of the store

Airport

• Paging “Mr. Amond Silvestiri” – there is a terrorist with a bomb
• Paging “Miss Terrilynn Mayfield“ - anthrax in the building

Store (in general)

• Announcing “need for quarters for checkstand five” – signaling a hot girl is at the checkstand

There’s a number of different camera models to choose from and it’s quite of a challenge to figure out the corresponding film that fits to the cameras. The most old school, and classiest one, I’ve stumbled upon is the SX-70 – an old high-class Land Camera produced by Polaroid Corporation. There’s also a related model called the OneStep which can’t be folded, but has a more retro vibe to it.

The one I’m going for is going to be either of the two above. eBay has lot for sale and also QXL and DBA (which are two danish online trading portals) have a few. I have totally fallen in love with a pearl white OneStep with a round lense and a great retro feel to it:

Georgous isn’t it? Found one on eBay for around 10-20$ which is ridicously cheap. Come to pappa!

Thanks to everyone at Camp Unknown for a great time, was fun meeting so many new people. For everyone’s interested, here’s a link to the Facebook Group page.  Even though the music olio has been criticized by many for the lack of blockbusting artists, i’d argument the selection was indeed very good. Many different genres we’re represented and i discovered a few great bands myself – some of them:

• MGMT (Kids + Time to Pretend + Electric Feel)
• Hot Chip (Ready for the Floor)
• Band of Horses (Is There a Ghost + The Funeral)
• Digitalism - Clubbing, hardcore!
• Slagsmålsklubben - Awesome Amiga/Nintendo retro-synth from these swedish guys
• However, there still was alot great bands i did’nt get to see/hear (either caused by drunkiness or laziness, who’s to blame)

The most favourable concerts were, in my opinion:

• Radiohead – Great use of screen effects and lightning, and with Karma Police for a sing-along ending, it went off beautifully (reactions from the audience here)
• The Streets – You gotta give it to him, the guy delivers. With the “everybody takes off their shirt and go low”, it was an awesome scene show)
• The Chemical Brothers – Full-blown party mood, with great effects and intense beats.
• Worth mentioning was also Hot Chip, MGMT and Band of Horses as written about above, great stuff..

For everybody who have a hard time letting go, here’s some photos to accompany your memories + an moody clip from Soundvenue.

The drunken brawling, the candid openminded people, the extremely overpriced Nachos and, not to forget, the girls… Ughh – bring back the Orange Feeling!
